Profile of Nodal Officer
Educated throughout from reputed convent schools in Mussoorie and Lucknow, India, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Tourism Management from University of Lucknow, UP, India. Earlier he completed his Master of Tourism Management (MTM), (now renamed as MBA in Tourism as per University Grants Commission, India guidelines). He has throughout been a topper in his academic pursuits including schooling and college. In addition to this, he has also been certified in Basic Course in Wildlife Tourism Management from Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India; Basic Course in Adventure tourism from Directorate of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh Government; Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology (Sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education) organized by IITTM, Gwalior; Faculty Development Programme on Strategic Management organized by Strategic Management Forum and AICTE, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode apart from various courses and training programs in consumer protection, research methodology in tourism, workshops on skill development etc. He is also a certified international trainer for Tour Guiding, certified by the World Federation of Tour Guides Association (WFTGA), U.K. He is also a certified trainer in Agri Tourism from Asian Productivity Organization, Japan. His teaching interests are in Strategic Management in Tourism, Tourism Transportation and Tour Guiding.
Currently Nodal Officer- NIWS-IITTM Goa, he is responsible for managing all the training, academic and administrative matters of the institute as Centre Head. He is the former Nodal Officer-IITTM Noida and Controller of Examinations-IITTM. He has earlier worked as Lecturer in Tourism in the Institute of Tourism Studies, University of Lucknow, Lucknow till 2007. With more than 25 years of experience in teaching undergraduate, postgraduate students and PhD Scholars, in the capacity of founder Nodal Officer and Chairman- PGDM (Tourism & Leisure) at IITTM, New Delhi, now operating from NOIDA. He has a blend of experience in teaching and administration holding various portfolios like Chairman (Postgraduate program in tourism and leisure), Coordinator for Bachelor in Business Administration (Tourism) program in University of Lucknow, Asstt. Proctor in University of Lucknow, Assistant Provost, University of Lucknow etc.
He has been instrumental in promoting tourism as a vocational subject and has trained more than 8000 persons so far for their career development. More than 100 publications and conferences/seminars papers are to his credit and has guided 8 PhD scholars so far. He has also conducted researches on the various socio-cultural impacts caused because of tourism in the state of Goa, Socio- cultural and environmental impacts of tourism in Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh. Various adventure tourism programmes as part of vocational study have also been conducted under his leadership to various parts of India. As chief coordinator for the very prestigious “Earn While You Learn – Commonwealth Games 2010 & Sensitizing Youth to Tourism” training programme of the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, he has been responsible for training of more than 3500 students to act as elite volunteers in the Commonwealth Games, UN-COP 11 etc. He has also as a Chief Coordinator been instrumental in starting the Incredible India Helpline-1363 for the Ministry of Tourism.
A widely published person, he has keen interest in tourism research and has done more than a dozen research/ consultancy projects for prestigious agencies like ILO and Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India, apart from various State Govts. The research and consultancy work done by him have a wide spread impact at National and International level. He is also on advisory panel of various Central and State educational bodies. He is a widely travelled person at National and International level and through his experience has earned keen coordination skills, ability to achieve desired results through participative team work and managerial skills, ability to motivate and think positive, tenacity, fine research aptitude, strong desire to reach masses and work for the betterment of the society.
